POLICY TRANSITION
The Policy has been developed by Bright Beginnings Childcare Centre.
Rationale
In the early years it is vital that children are supported by positive learning experiences in an environment where they feel safe and comfortable. Effective and consistent transition procedures will ensure this is possible.
Te Whariki
Belonging – Goal 3: Children and their families experience an environment where they feel comfortable with routines, customs, and regular events.
Procedures
Transition between groups is based on developmental readiness, availability of spaces, and consultation with parents/whānau.
Before a child’s transition begins, the current portfolio teacher is to share all information regarding the child, including the child’s name, date of birth, child’s wellbeing, and child’s interests with the child’s new portfolio teacher.
Staff may request a transition meeting with parents/whānau regarding child’s transition entering the centre, within the centre or onto school.
In preparation for a transition, teachers support children for success in the child’s new environment.
If the child is transitioning out of the centre we will only give out any information regarding the child with the parents/whānau permission.
